Male Insecurity: What Gives the Modern Guy Sleepless Nights?

As of January 2020, there are 164,468,183 men in the US. That’s nearly half of the US population, and yet there is virtually no emotional support for these men online or at home. Men are expected to be stoic, serious people, but that isn’t a possible reality for any human being.

Male insecurity is a prevalent issue exacerbated by the fact that men don’t feel free to discuss these insecurities with others. If you’re a man who fears that you struggle alone, this isn’t the case at all.

Read on to learn some of the most common insecurities that keep men up at night, so you know that you’re not alone.

Physical Insecurities

As one might expect, most men are insecure about their bodies. This makes sense- after all, you see the photoshopped muscular models on the cover of Sports Illustrated and wonder if you’re supposed to look like that. Well, you’re not! That’s what photoshop does- makes the real unrealistic. While your body is likely perfect, you can learn about phalogenic traction if you want to switch things up a bit down there.

Desire to Express Emotion

In addition to telling men that they have to be perfect paragons of muscular manliness, society also teaches us that we aren’t allowed to have or express emotion. This is ridiculous since keeping everything inside is a recipe for disaster. Not just that, but learning to be open about how you feel will allow you to connect more genuinely with others and have fulfilling friendships and relationships.

Relationship Issues

Speaking of relationships, many men are kept up at night worrying about theirs. You likely have stared at the ceiling before and wondered what your girlfriend or boyfriend thinks of your looks, your personality, or your interests. Having relationship insecurities is common for people of both genders and is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Communicate with your partner and ask for reassurance- you won’t regret it.

Financial Concerns

Pretty much everyone on the face of the earth worries about money at some point or another, but men do so more than women. This is likely because they’re shown messages that they need to provide for their spouses and families and be the breadwinner. While worrying about money is normal and natural, take a breath, guys- your families love you for way more than the dough you rake in. It’s okay.

Combat Male Insecurity

While men are constantly told to stifle their insecurities, this isn’t healthy. Keeping these insecurities inside will only cause them to fester and become worse over time. Face them head-on and know that you aren’t alone in doing so- tons of other men are, too.

Now that you know that you aren’t alone if you suffer from one of the most common causes of male insecurity, it’s time to start living your best life. Click on the ‘lifestyle’ tab on our home page for some tips on how to fight your anxieties and live your best life.
