Why Everyone Should Try It
There’s just nothing like the smell of campfire and pine trees to lure campers into the woods for a little camping. Most people like camping in the summer when it’s nice and warm, but others will camp at any time of the year.
The Joy of Camping
My favorite time of the year to camp happens to be in the fall when the smell of wood smoke is constantly in the air.
The leaves are changing colors, it’s warm during the day, and cool at night, perfect for gathering around the campfire. I was well into my adult years when I went camping for the first time and now I wish I had started sooner. Camping is just something I think everyone should try at least once in their lifetime and here are some reasons why.
#1- Get Away From It All
Camping gives you a chance to get away from it all, leaving your hectic life behind and trading it for a slower pace. In addition, it also gives you a chance to get off the grid and camp in a relatively tech-free atmosphere. Unplug for a while; you’ll be glad you did!
#2- Get Closer To Mother Nature
You forget just how beautiful everything in Mother Nature is. Camping gives you a chance to re-introduce yourself to all the outdoors has to offer. Also, camping can give you quiet time and some much-needed reflection.
#3- Spend Quality Time With Friends & Family
Camping gives you the opportunity to spend quality time with those you care about most, your friends and family. Furthermore, it’s a great way to spend extended time with the family.
#4- Cook Outdoors
Food cooked outdoors just tastes better! Camping brings it’s own specialty foods as well. Whether you like roasted marshmallows or just cooking over an open fire, outdoor cooking can be fun, exciting, and oh-so-tasty!
#5- Learn/Teach New Skills
Not everyone knows how to start a fire and camping creates the perfect opportunity to learn. There are also putting the tent up, being able to recognize poisonous plants, and other outdoor skills you can learn for yourself or teach your family.
#6- Take Your Dog
Camping is a dog-friendly activity, so don’t leave them out! In fact, camping is for everyone. It doesn’t matter how young or how old you are, everyone can benefit from interacting with nature for a few days.
#7- It’s Affordable
Camping doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to do. In fact, if you camp in National Forest, you don’t even have to pay to camp. When not camping is a designated area, however, be sure to bring some type of outdoor lights, such as propane lanterns, so you can see when around camp at night. Also, headlamps come in handy as well.
#8- It’s a Great Way to Get Exercise
Between putting up the tent, setting up camp, finding firewood, and other camp activities, you’ll get plenty of exercises, definitely more than you would get at home. Other outdoor activities can be added in for even more exercise, such as swimming, hiking, and exploring.
#9- You Get to Stargaze
If you live in a big city, you probably don’t get to see the stars very often. Camping gives you the opportunity to get a great look at the vast sky, the stars, planets, and moon. This is a great time to pull out a telescope!
#10- Come Home Refreshed
Spending time in the outdoors just does something wonderful for you. In addition to getting off the grid and going tech-free, the easy-breezy lifestyle of camping allows you peace of mind so that you can come home nice and refreshed.
