5 Winter Bbq Recipes to Warm up Your Taste Buds

The harsh winter weather and snow chill you down to your very bones. It’s pretty to look at, but burr. So it’s time to warm yourself up with some winter BBQ.

Yes, you can still use your BBQ grill in the winter. Any season can be grilling season if you put your heart into it. What can you make on your grill in the cold months, though? We’re happy you asked.

Fire up your grill, grab your equipment, and get started! Here are a few tasty recipes that won’t fail to thaw you out on a chilly day.

1. Bacon-Wrapped Carrots

This bacon-wrapped carrots recipe makes the perfect side dish for any winter BBQ. You’ll need 2 pounds of peeled carrots, 1 pound of bacon, and a 1/4 cup of maple syrup to start.

From there, making these are a cakewalk. Preheat your oven to 400 and wrap the carrots in the bacon. Spread the carrots evenly on a baking sheet and place them in the oven.

Cook them until the bacon is nice and crispy and the carrots are tender. It should only take about 20 minutes or so. When they’re halfway done cooking, baste them with maple syrup.

If you want them to have a little kick, you can mix dijon mustard in with the syrup before you add it to the carrots.

2. Sweet Potato Chicken Kabobs

For this sweet and savory recipe, you’ll get to fire up your akorn grill. For the base of the meal, you’re going to need one large sweet potato that you’ve cut into 1-inch squares, 1/2 lb of chicken thighs that you’ve also cut into 1-inch squares, one sweet onion that you’ve chopped into large chunks, olive oil, and seven 12-inch bamboo skewers.

Now onto the glaze. Measure out 2 tsp of garlic salt, 2 tsp of chili powder, a 1/2 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of pepper, 1 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of paprika, a 1/4 tsp of crushed red pepper, 2 tsp of cider vinegar, and 6 tbsp of honey.

Place your sweet potato chunks in a pot with water and bring them to a boil. You don’t want to cook the potatoes all the way. Make sure they’re still sort of firm.

Set the potatoes to the side so they can cool, and get started on your glaze mixture. Please take all the dry spices and whisk them in a bowl. Combine the cider vinegar and honey in a separate dish.

Toss your chicken cubes into a bowl and coat them in olive oil and half the dry rub you created. Sweet potatoes are going to get the same treatment. Once everything is good and covered, make your skewers with the chicken, onion, and sweet potatoes.

Place the skewers on the grill and turn them periodically until the chicken is cooked. Don’t forget to brush them the honey glaze ever so often while they cook.

3. Whole Turkey

It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving for you to enjoy a delicious turkey. Believe it or not, grilling the bird is one of the best ways to lock in flavor. You only need one ingredient for this dish, the turkey.

You’ve got complete full reign when it comes to seasoning it, but once you do, you want to wrap it in a cheesecloth. You’ll leave the cheesecloth on it for at least the first 2 hours while it’s cooking.

Prepare your grill for the turkey before you place it. Be sure that the turkey isn’t sitting on the heat directly. You don’t want to end up with a dry bird.

From there, it’s only a matter of checking on the turkey every once in a while as it cooks. Ensure you don’t open the lid too often or it will never get done.

4. Grilled Chicken Nachos

These grilled chicken nachos make the perfect side dish for any winter meal, or you can eat them as an excellent snack.

You’ll need 8 ounces of tortilla chips, 1 cup of chicken (cooked and chopped up), 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese, a 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce, and a 1/2 cup of sour cream.

If you want, chop up a tomato, 1/4 of red onion, one jalapeno, 1/2 of cilantro, and half an avocado. Then, preheat your grill and mix the chicken with a 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce.

Set this off to the side, and then in a small bowl, combine the sour cream with your other 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce. Next, get a sheet of aluminum foil and fold the edges, so it looks like you’ve created a shiny metal boat.

Place your tortilla chips at the bottom of your metal boat and top them off with a good portion of your cheese but not all. Next, place the chicken on top of the chips and add the remainder of your cheese.

Place your nachos on the grill and cover them up. Let them cook until your cheese is good and melted and then take it off. Let it cool before you top it with your sour cream BBQ and the additional ingredients you chopped up.

5. BBQ Chicken Stuffed Bread

Chicken and bread are filling foods that will leave your stomach happy and warm during the winter. Grab 3 cups of shredded chicken, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup of cilantro, a single baguette, 3/4 cups of BBQ sauce, and 1/4 red onion.

Pull out a large bowl and mix your chicken, 1 1/4 cup of cheese, the onion, cilantro, and 1/2 cup of the BBQ sauce. You can add more seasoning if the 1/2 cup isn’t enough.

Hallow the bread to where you still have bread, but there’s enough of a well to put your chicken. Spoon the chicken into the bread and sprinkle it with the rest of your cheese and BBQ sauce. Put your chicken bread on a baking tray and cook it on 325 until it’s warm.
