How to Prepare For a Flight: 5 Steps That You Should Take

You want to do various things if you plan on traveling by air. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Wear a Mask

You will have to wear a mask. Not just in the airport but on the plane as well.

While you can take it off to eat and drink, it’s highly recommended to leave it on during your flight. That is, it might be a better idea to eat when you arrive at your destination.

2. Practice Social Distancing

Maintain a safe distance from others; they shouldn’t be stepping into your bubble, nor should you.

The good news is that most airlines are operating at reduced capacity to enable social distancing. However, with that said, you still want to be careful when you’re around other travelers.

3. Wash Your Hands Often

Still at the airport? If so, make sure to wash your hands often with water and soap.

Once you’re on the plane, you’ll want to avoid the bathroom. Why? It’s small and not exactly well-ventilated. So instead, use a hand sanitizer to sanitize your hands.

4. Sanitize Your Seat Area

Consider sanitizing your seat area with wipes before sitting down. For example, you might want to wipe down the seat arms, seat belt, TV remote, as well as a tray table.

Sure, the surface transmission of coronavirus might be low, but it never hurts to be more careful.

5. Get Tested Before Flying

The CDC recommends that you get tested 1 to 3 days before your flight. In fact, some airlines will require a negative result before you can board the plane.

The same thing goes after your trip. That is, you’ll have to go for covid testing once you’ve returned home. Not only that, but you will have to stay home and self-quarantine even if you test negative.
