Tired of TV? Pick Up One of These Hobbies During Quarantine

hobbies during quarantine

It’s no secret that quarantine has been tough on everyone. Not being able to enjoy your favorite activities or even leave your house can strain anyone. But just because you aren’t able to go to any bars, clubs, or restaurants doesn’t mean you can’t get the most out of your free time! What better time to pick up a new skill than when your usual activities are unavailable to you? Instead of napping or Netflix binging your day away, consider picking up a few hobbies during quarantine!

Don’t know where to start? We’re here to help! For some great hobbies to do during quarantine, just keep reading!

1. Knitting

Knitting is a soothing activity that you can use to make beautiful gifts for yourself, your friends, and your family! The best part is you can knit while doing other things at the same time.

Knitting provides an opportunity to listen to a podcast or an audiobook or watch a movie. And you can learn to make everything from hats to blankets to cozy socks! In addition, there’s a wealth of free tutorials available online, so all you have to purchase are your needles and yarn.

2. Baking

There’s a reason that baking sourdough bread became such a trend in the beginning months of quarantine. Baking is both relaxing and fun, not to mention you’ll have a tasty treat once you’re done!

Don’t bake from a box. Instead, make it a challenge and practice a new skill by baking some of your favorite sweets from scratch. You’ll be surprised by how much better they taste.

3. Exercise

We should be getting 150 minutes of physical activity per week, at the very least. But with gyms shut down, it can be even harder to get enough exercise in your day-to-day life. Not everyone enjoys at-home workouts, and that’s okay!

You can do many exciting activities to get your body moving without running or lifting weights. Consider joining a private golf club or adding an evening hike into your routine!

4. Kayaking

Speaking of exciting activities, kayaking is an excellent way to get your daily activity while enjoying the great outdoors and soaking up some sunshine. Sitting inside all day is detrimental to your health, so do your best to get out in the sun for a few minutes every single day.

Yes, a kayak is a bit of an investment. However, if you’re worried that you won’t enjoy it, you can always rent one and then purchase one for yourself if you find that it’s the right activity for you!

Consider Picking Up These Hobbies During Quarantine

There’s nothing wrong with taking a nap or watching a little TV, but you’ll feel much better both mentally and physically by challenging your body and mind instead. So try out one of these hobbies during quarantine!

You never know. You might find an activity that you enjoy so much you continue on with it long after quarantine has ended.
