If it’s been a rough week and you need a break or got that promotion at work, and you want to pamper yourself, you can treat yourself to a spa day at home anytime. Not everyone has the time or the money to go to the spa often, and sometimes, that’s just what’s needed.
Well, you don’t even have to leave your house to get pampered; do it yourself. It may not be as awesome as the spa and everyone doing everything for you, but you can add your own little specials that can make it even better.
So, here are some inexpensive ways to treat yourself to a spa day at home.
#1- Create an Atmosphere
One thing that makes spas so great is the soothing low music, the smells, the quietude. At home, you have the freedom to create a relaxing atmosphere; however you want.
Having plenty of good-smelling candles and tarts melting in colorful, delightful tart burners go a long way in setting the mood.
Put on some relaxing music or perhaps white noise in the background (or not); it’s all in what you need to relax. I enjoy the heavy rain sounds or waves crashing on the beach, but sometimes I want quiet. Make sure wherever you’re setting up your day spa, make it comfortable. After all, this is your day!
#2- Make Your Own Hot Tub or Sauna
Again, this one is up to personal preferences. Some might like a nice, hot shower to loosen sore muscles. Some may like drifting away in a bubble bath or soaking in a hot tub. Others may prefer saunas. It’s easy to do a make-shift sauna. If you want to steam your face, fill your sink with your hot water.
Grab a thick towel and, holding it over the back of your head, put your face down over the sink, using the towel to keep the steam in. You can also make a full sauna by running your hot water for five-ten minutes in the shower with the curtain or door open. Any of these choices will work, whichever makes you feel better.
#3- Use a Facial and/or Moisturizing Your Body
Don’t you love the way those facials feel as they dry? When they come off, your face always feels clean and fresh; it feels like it can breathe!
You can pick up a single facial pack for under a dollar at Walmart, and they actually have several to choose from. They also have a nice variety of masks available, which is what I like.
In addition to doing a facial, moisturize your whole body while you’re at it. (And speaking of them, they also have cheaper versions of super moisturizing lotions.)
When in doubt, choose cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is always moisturizing. Just some brands and types are better than others. Don’t forget to get your elbows and knees! After showers/baths, use cocoa butter body oil gel to lock in moisture.
Another thing to moisturize is your feet. If you need to use a foot scrubber, do it after soaking or showering when the skin is softer. Afterward, apply cocoa butter Vaseline well and put on some nylon socks. Keep them on for at least an hour.
#4- Time for a Mani/Pedi!
Now you can give yourself a manicure and a pedicure. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just clean off any old polish. Shape up your nails and cuticles.
Paint them! You can always do cute little designs or buy some cheap little stickers for the occasion. You can always invite a friend to a spa day, and the two of you can give each other’s nails. There’s also fake glue on nails you can get at Walmart (where else?) for fairly cheap as well.
There’s plenty of other things you could add to your spa day. The point is to do it! As far as adding specials, as I mentioned above, the Chinese order or pick up an ice cream cake.
Watch your show uninterrupted while you are giving yourself a facial. There’s really no rules. Treat yourself! You deserve it!
